A vision that slowly took root

Some visions take shape over time.

Long before peonies bloomed in the fields of Hillcrest Farm, they were already at the heart of Jennifer Brodeur’s approach to skincare.

In 2016, Peoni was introduced as JB Skin Sävvi’s first collection, inspired by the soothing properties of white peony root extract.

From the beginning, the intention was simple and clear: to create formulas that support the skin gently, without ever disrupting its balance.

Thoughtfully developed, each formula is designed to respect the skin’s natural balance and respond to its real needs, especially when it feels sensitive, reactive, or fragile.

Over time, that vision expanded beyond skincare.

It evolved into a place where nature, seasonality, and a more intentional way of living could come together in harmony.

That vision became Hillcrest Farm, in Knowlton, in Quebec’s Eastern Townships.

In Bloom 

At Hillcrest Farm, peonies move at their own pace.

The roots come from the Netherlands, known for their long horticultural tradition and the exceptional quality of their peony varieties — a choice guided by the desire to cultivate flowers valued for their generosity, strong performance, and rich range of tones.

They are planted in the fall, when the soil is still warm and ideal for establishing strong roots.

Then begins a quieter, almost invisible stage.

Before a peony reaches full maturity, it typically takes three to five years.

During this time, the root system develops slowly beneath the surface, gaining depth, density, and strength — building the foundation for a future abundant and lasting bloom.

At the farm, we’ve chosen to respect this rhythm.

Not to rush it. But rather observe it and let nature do its work.

This patience is also part of the JB Skin Sävvi philosophy.

Understanding that not everything transforms instantly.

That some things require time, consistency, and balance to fully reveal their beauty.

Sharing The Bloom 

After a few seasons of cultivating peonies, the desire to share this place emerged naturally.

For the very first time this year, Hillcrest Farm will open to the public for peony picking on June 13 and 20.

An invitation to discover peonies in their natural setting, to walk among the blooming rows, and to quietly take in the rhythm of the season.

To preserve the fields and the natural cycle of bloom, attendance will be intentionally limited.

The intention is to offer a simple, peaceful experience true to the spirit of the place — a moment to observe, breathe, and take in the fleeting beauty of peonies at their peak.

Welcoming The Light

On June 21, Hillcrest Farm will mark the summer solstice with an immersive evening inspired by Jennifer Brodeur’s Finnish roots.

Set among the blooming peony fields, the gathering is shaped by the light and long days of June.

Not just a celebration of summer’s arrival, but an invitation to slow down, connect, and be present in the season.

A quiet moment defined by early summer light, blooming fields, and the ease of the season.

A Story Still In Bloom

For years, peonies were a quiet part of the JB Skin Sävvi story.

Today, they bloom at the heart of the landscape that now shapes the brand.

Like skin, like nature, they reflect a simple truth: the most meaningful transformations take time to root.
